“PBIS” stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.
Beginning in the Fall of 2011, Clissold adopted the PBIS model to address student behaviors across all areas of the school. This initiative has had a dramatic effect on the culture and climate of our school. Discipline referrals and suspensions have significantly decreased after this approach was implemented. Our goal is to continue using PBIS as a primary tool to ensure that our school remains a calm and nurturing environment for both academic and social learning for our students.
PBIS focuses on:
• Clear expectations for student behaviors
• Recognition for students, both individually and school-wide, who demonstrate expected behaviors
• Intensive support for students who struggle to meet expectations.
• Creating a respectful, responsible and safe environment in order to maximize academic and social behavior outcomes for ALL students.
